Becoming More Mindful
Typically our day has a routine, we get up, we go to work, we come home from work, we do chores, and we go to bed. Somehow between our busy routines we find time to eat and spend time with others.
Because we are so caught up in our daily routines we don’t exercise our minds in the ways we want to. Our mind is meant to grow and connect with our bodies and hearts along the way.
As humans we have to battle our “routine selves” with our “outgoing selves” and challenge our minds to think outside of the daily routine.
Becoming more mindful is key to winning this battle. Use these tips to becoming part of this world and not just in this world.
1. Find Time For Yourself
Find a time each day to focus on yourself, meditate, and clear your head from the day before. The Four Agreements, by Don Miguel Ruiz is one of our favorite books that allows you to transform your life by experiencing freedom, true happiness, and love. Use this time to remind yourself to love others, enjoy life, don’t sweat the small stuff, or just to breathe. Don’t forget to count your blessings!
2. Get Your Nose Out Of Your Belly Button
Ask yourself what you can do for others, not what others can do for you! Make it a point each day to have a meaningful conversation with someone else. Maybe you know of someone who is going through a hard time personally, write a meaningful message in a card and give it to that person. Another option is to get involved with a charity, such as your local soup kitchen. Make time once a month to build meaningful relationships through a nonprofit organization, the best gift is giving back.
3. Set Your Intentions For The Day
Maybe there is something you have been struggling with, such as stress, use each morning right when you wake up to set the day’s intentions. Use the following saying to do so, ”Today I will not let stress get the best of me. I will remain calm, steady, and strong. I will overcome stressful situations and thoughts and replace them with peace and calm.” Make it a point to wake up on the right side of the bed each day J
4. Use Inspirational Quotes
Use inspirational quotes to help you escape throughout the day. Take a look at our previous blog and find your favorite one. Write it down on a 3 x 5 notecard and keep it with you. When you feel that your day is getting out of hand, read your notecard.
